During nursing school, I participated in an 8-week pilot program called Nursesquared. The program involved software that closely resembled electronic health care records used for patient charting. This software was going to be implemented into the following year's cohort of students. My role was to chart on patients I took care of during my clinical rotations, and the work I completed was reviewed by my instructor. The greatest feature this program offered was the ability to create a nursing care plan by selecting common goals and interventions related to a nursing diagnosis. This is time efficient for the nursing student, and critical thinking is involved because the student still needs to insert an evaluation of the goals.

This program impacted my practice because I became an expert user which will benefit other nursing students and myself. The more knowledge and exposure I have with informatics and technology, the easier it will be for me to adapt to various computer systems in hospitals.
